breaded buffalo strips with perfect ranch knockoff | Status: Approved | | Name | breaded buffalo strips with perfect ranch knockoff | | Category | Appetizer | | Serves/Yields | you decide | | Difficulty | Easy | | Introduction | | goes with the idea of using grated parmesan to coat chicken instead of flour. i never measure any of this, its up to you depending on how much chicken you want to fry. | | Ingredients | | buffalo strips: chicken tenders, parmesan, chili powder, garlic powder ,(important for taste) cumin, onion powder, salt , pepper, paprika, red pepper to coat chicken. you can coat in franks red hot sauce after it is deep fried. ranch dressing: i found this recipe as a knock off of hidden valley ranch and substituted sour cream for the buttermilk.1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon msg (Accent brand is good)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon onion powder
1 pinch dried thyme (i add dill weed to it also)
sufficient oil for deep frying | | Directions | | Step: 1 | coat chicken in large bowl, let it set a minute and shake bowl again to coat well. deep fry chicken and set on paper toweled plate to drain. when it has drained add to large serving bowl with a smaller bowl in the center. NOTE: MAKE RANCH AHEAD OF TIME IF YOU CAN , GIVE IT AT LEAST AN HOUR FOR THE SPICES AND FLAVORS TO MELD. add ranch to middle bowl. i usually serve with cucumbers sliced lengthwise as they are cooler and a change from celery. and usually after i fill the smaller dip bowl , i add a small pile of real bacon bits and spinkle dill weed over the top for looks. when using plates, i use individual dip bowls on large plates, and add add the ranch and vegs and put back in the fridge to chill untill the chicken is done and ready to be added to the plate for serving. | | Nutrition Information | | the chicken will have none and the vegetables will depend on what you choose, but the ranch will end up being 2 cups total volume with 16 carbs for the whole bowl. i split/serve it in 1/2 cup increments knowing its 4 carbs and it is always enough for a large plate of strips and vegetables. | Time submitted: Friday, March 07. 2008 at 02:41:17 Contributed By: Anonymous |
